Some of you marveled yesterday at how well I have Mom trained. It's true she is well trained. It wasn't always this way, it's been many years of hard work on my part.
As a kitten my late night requests were all for attention and playtime, these early requests were ignored or quickly silenced with a pet. In my middle years my late night requests centered on snugs and calling attention to any empty bowls. I was a bit more insistent by then.
I have found that being a senior kitizen has its rewards. Now when I cry in the middle of the night, I have Mom's attention. In part because she's always concerned for my health and well being, and in part because I have found the perfect mew that cuts through her sleep. When this mew is issued in five minute or less intervals... she is putty in in my paws.
Now you have to be careful kitties, human parents can worry, and you might find yourself at the VET, just to be sure everything is okay. This is not OKAY. So this morning I was the picture of politeness. Not a mew till 5:30am and then I even waited till Mom used the bathroom before I lead her to my bowl. Rule with a velvet paw I say.

You are astute, Fin. You realized that another night of mewing from 4:30 am -5:30 am would put Mom over the edge, and then where would you be? You have to just barely keep her sane.
Wow, Fin, you WERE polite! Some of us haven't quite learned to rule with a velvet paw yet, as we typically wake our human around 1AM, 2AM, 3AM, and then finally get her up at 4AM.
We can't understand why she's so grumpy in the mornings.
Great advice from a master! You should open a cat etiquette school. I'm sure your Mom appreciates your politeness more than she can say. . .
I think I don't get the slight nuances in mom training. I think I go TOO BIG all the time. I am only six so, I have years to learn the ropes I guess.

That is so good of you! We three have our mummy and daddy wrapped around our little paws! We take it in turns to wake them both up in the night, because our mummy is always concerned about Pricilla (being 12) and then Keiko sings her little tune to wake daddy up and then Kenji jumps up and sleeps on top of mummy.

Of Fin, if only I could be a subtle as you. I have to roam the hall, howl, and run to the refrigerator EVERY time someone makes a move in that general direction. Hungry? No. A slave to the hope of crunchy treats? Yes. I wonder if there's hope...

Oh Fin,you are such a smart cookie or I guess I should say kitty. We don't like to go to the vet either and our Mom is just the same. Off to the vet with any little hair out of place. So we must be careful in our demands.

Thanks for the warning, oh wise one. We wouldn't want to be whisked off to the vet for a morning psysical before we even get breakfast. Maybe we'll wait a bit before trying it.

Just the right meow to cut through peoples' sleep is very significant. I find persistence useful too. Getting my mother up at a suitable hour is of the utmost importance to me. I am pleased to say I have elevated this endeavor to both an artform and a science.
